This year is just flying by. It feels like just yesterday I was ringing in the new year, now summer is right around the corner. For the most part, I’ve been able to keep my New Year’s resolution of staying in shape but for the last month or two it’s been difficult. Work has been crazy and it’s been hard to find the time but I want to look good for swimsuit season. Luckily, I’ve been able to find a few ways to prepare my body for summer. Hopefully, these will help you as well.

Prepare Your Body with a Personal Trainer.

Look, I like to think I know what I’m doing at the gym but in reality, I have no idea. Sometimes I run, sometimes I lift weights, but for the most part my body does not look the way I want it to. I am not an expert at working out but fortunately there are people who are. That’s why I’ve decided to get a personal trainer who can give me the right exercises and routines to meet my fitness goals. My local gym has personal trainers who aren’t that expensive. I can also find a private one online if I really want to get intense about it. There are videos from personal trainers online and books I could buy that can guide me but I just need someone in the gym with me to motivate me and make sure I’m doing everything correctly. That way, I’ll be able to meet my fitness goals in time get my summer body.

Get Nutrition Right During Summer.

My expertise in exercise is matched by my expertise in nutrition. I generally know what’s healthy but I’m not sure what exactly I should be eating every day. It gets confusing with all the misinformation online. One week chocolate is bad for you, the other week it’s good for you. I don’t really know what to believe. So I’ve been thinking about hiring a nutritionist to give me a meal plan. That way they can tell me exactly what to eat and when so I can have my body look the way I want it to and be healthy. I’ve also been thinking about maybe downloading some apps to help guide my nutrition. Apps are cheaper than an actual nutritionist but I’m not sure how affective they are.  I could also buy books and watch videos but I’d rather have an actual person to talk to and give me a personalized meal plan for my specific body type.

Try Vitamin IV Drips.

If you came into my apartment and looked at the top of my refrigerator, you’d see a lot of bottles of vitamins and supplements. I take these every day and some a few times a day. They’re supposed to give me energy and make me healthier. But you know what? I don’t know how effective they are because I don’t feel that energetic or healthy. It takes a while for the vitamins to kick in due to my metabolism and a lot of it gets absorbed in my stomach, so I don’t feel the full effects. I’ve been thinking about getting nutrient IV therapy at Liquivida Lounge. It’s been a while since I’ve done it and frankly it may be time to try it again. It’s getting expensive buying all these supplements and not feeling any better. I remember getting IV therapy and feeling super energized. I went to the gym and killed all my workouts. It was a nice feeling to be able to use my full potential at the gym. I think if I want my body to look good in time for summer, I need to get IV therapy to give myself a head start.

Want a Summer Body? Cut Back on Alcohol.

Let’s face it. I enjoy a beer from time to time and by “a beer” I mean 3 or 4, and by “time to time” I mean a couple times a week. I also will “occasionally” have a glass of wine (or two) with dinner. I’m an adult and I like to enjoy alcohol responsibly. That being said, it’s not great for my body and health. I have a bit of a belly and my blood pressure has slowly been increasing. It’s time to take a break. There’s so many extra calories in alcohol that by not drinking for a few weeks, I will probably see some results.

But how do I get my buzz on without gaining weight? I’ve actually found some alternatives. One of the alternatives is kava. Kava is a powdered root mixed with water and is a drink originating in Polynesia. It helps you feel relaxed and calm without getting you drunk. You can find kava bars all over South Florida, as it’s becoming more and more popular. Another alternative is kombucha, which is fermented tea flavored with things like turmeric, cayenne, pomegranate, ginger, and other natural flavors. It can also help you feel more relaxed and is great for your digestive system too. Kava and kombucha are low in calories and can help take the edge off as well as the calories.

Use Summer Time to Get Some Sleep.

One thing I do not get enough of is sleep. My mattress stinks and I have to take valerian root to fall asleep every night. It’s affecting my work performance and my gym performance. I simply do not have the energy or endurance to be at my best and it’s affecting my body. I decided enough is enough. I need better sleep.

I am getting a memory foam mattress. They are made of soft material that contours to your body so that you get a very comfortable night’s sleep. I’m also getting a weighted blanket. I’ve heard this is important to a good night’s sleep. Apparently, they are good for making you feel calm and relaxed, which is something I need. Besides that I’m gonna make sure I turn off all screens an hour before bedtime, make sure that my room is nice and cold, and put in my ear plugs and blindfold. That way I can fall asleep at ideal conditions so I have the energy the next day to be at my best. That way I can work hard on my summer body. I’m not gonna be this young forever so I’m gonna make sure I look my best right now.
